Had high hopes based on the sales pitch when I rented. Was told they never had elevator issues, parking would never be an issue and it was a no smoking community. Paid my $350 refundable "security deposit" and made arrangements to move in the next week. The day the movers and I arrived with my things, the elevator was gone - not just unavailable, but literally gone! There was a hole in the wall where the buttons once were. Was ultimately told this was a "scheduled" replacement; however, the manager failed to mention this the week prior when she "sold" me on the third floor apartment and, of course when I called the office to find out why, that manager had moved to a different property and the new one took no responsibility. The elevator was down for nearly 6 weeks!! When I moved out a year and a half later, the elevator broke down again on moving day!! If you come home after 10 PM, good luck finding a place to park - completely full!! Also, there is very limited access in and out of the complex and traffic in the morning and evening on Bothell Way is gridlocked and oppressive! You are unable to make a left turn due to the median, so be aware!! As for the smoking ban - ha!!! There is constant smoking going on and complaining to management is ineffectual-it takes 2-3 emails to get a response and they ultimately stop responding to you. The refundable "security deposit" they take upon lease signing suddenly becomes a "cleaning deposit" when you leave. They intend from the very beginning to keep money to clean the carpets. I left the apartment in pristine condition and had area rugs throughout, even though there was wall-to-wall carpeting, so after a year and a half, the carpet was essentially just as it was when I moved in, other than normal wear and tear. When questioned (after sending 3 emails to get a response) the manager says the apartment "had to be able to be rentable without any of their employees having to do anything to it." In other words, you will be paying for them to remodel for the next tenant!! They were "unavailable" when I requested a walk through and the promised "list of expenses deducted" from my deposit that was to be sent with "any refund" never came! I'm a 55 year old professional male and I have very unpleasant memories of this experience at Watercrest! All I can say is, you've been warned!
