Resident ā€¢ 2013 - 2015

My husband and I lived here for over two years. We lived in a one bedroom un-renovated our first year, and a two bedroom renovated for the last year and a half. History of the Complex: This complex was originally built in 1969. It was owned by individual condo owners until an apartment owner came along and purchased it. The complex is currently owned by a larger company called Weidner, who is based out of Kirkland. You can look up their reviews for your own interest. There had been plans to tear down some of the apartments for new construction, but this never happened. Instead Weidner decided to put the project on hold and just do some basic upgrades like electricity and roofing to keep the apartments adequate for living. The Management: We've seen three managers come and go in two and a half years, and the leasing staff change over multiple times. The current office staff and manager are friendly. We appreciated that they made our move-out process easy. It seems the management has tried to do their best with how old this property is. The Apartments: As mentioned previously, the age of the complex is a huge variable to consider if you are to move here. In the two apartments we lived in, we had one very poor experience, and one okay experience. If you are going to live here your living experience can vary dramatically on a unit by unit situation. The Good +Large apartments: there is plenty of storage, the bedrooms are large. +Good sized patio space: you can have a good sized garden during the summer. The Bad +Moisture control: the bathroom fans will not expel moisture, we know this after living in two apartments, and you will get mold in your bathroom if you don't have a dehumidifier. Your windows will develop mildew during the winter due to the baseboard heaters being directly under the windows. When we moved out we found a mold patch the size of a water-bottle that had formed behind our bed headboard. +Noise: If you live underneath someone be prepared to hear everything they do. During the summer the neighbors can be obnoxious when you have your windows open. +Apartment aesthetics: our second apartment was painted so many times the paint was chipping off the walls. The apartments were not thoroughly clean prior to moving in either one. Our apartment blinds and closet doors where falling apart. The Amenities: The Good +Summer Pool: this can be really nice when the kids aren't hoarding it. +On-site Storage: if you really have too much stuff they have extra storage closets. +Online Rent Payment and Maintenance Requests: convenient if you don't want to go in person. +Interurban Trail and Ballinger Lake: great for walks or runs, the park is absolutely beautiful and they have plans to continue developing the area. The Bad +Laundry: it costs $2.75 to run a complete laundry cycle. If you do 3-4 loads a week, it will cost you $33-$44 dollars extra a month. There are no W/D hookups in the units, so you are forced to use the laundry facilities. There is not always a facility on every floor. The laundry rooms and machines are pretty dirty because people are disgusting. My white clothes turned grey, and I learned not to run heavy loads for fear of having my fabric softener staining my clothes. As well, if I run a delicate cycle for the dryer I sometimes still end up with my clothes shrinking and fraying. The laundry situation here is just terrible, don't expect your new clothes to stay nice. +Fitness Facility: don't believe that this is an amenity. Most of the equipment is either broken, missing, or only partially working. It's been this way since we moved in two years ago and nothing has been done to change it. You are better off going out to run on the new walking trail in front of the complex.
