great in summer, crap in winter
This place was great in summer; good location for getting around (by car or public transit), pretty safe and quiet, good size for the price. In winter, it is freezing (the crappy floor heaters are super loud when they turn on...and we were told that was normal, so a new one won't change it); the one wall-heater for the main room and kitchen (and loft, if you have one) definitely can't keep up; we had to buy a space heater for each room (and even that had a hard time keeping up during really cold weather). The windows have horrible insulation and have TONS of condensation in the morning (I'm talking large puddles forming every night). The apartment complex is pretty good at fixing very serious problems, but anything short of that you have to nag and nag (I think the super just has too much to do; apparently he works at least one other apartment complex). The staff was pretty friendly and competent. One other concern is that the wood on the complex appears, at least in places, to be rotting (you can dig a hole in some places with relative ease). The floors in at least some of the apartments are also incredibly creaky. Also no visitor parking...not a huge problem, but kind of irritating nonetheless. bottom line, not terrible overall (in fact, its downright great in summer), but winter is brutal.Share This Review
