I had a similiarly bad experience with the management. I asked the management to simply help me find someone to take-over my lease. I had two and a half months left on the lease. They told me it might take a couple of weeks, but that they would help me. I paid the two months in advance, and moved out. They used that time to do un-necessaru maintenace on apartment, like replace the carpets (all the while the rent for that time was being paid by me and the apartment could not be moved in to). Eventually, three days before my lease was up, they moved a tenant into the apartment, but avoided paying me the pro-rated rent for the time they had the new tenant in. It took three months for them to pay me the $80 pro-rated rent they owed me. Also, they told me when I started renting that I would get most of my security deposit back if I cleaned the apartment myself. My wife, mother, and grandmother (the sweethearts that they are) spent three days cleaning the apartment, only for the apartment complex to charge us something like $100 for "carpet cleaning". I told them the carpets had been clean, but they told me they wouldn't give me the money unless I showed a receipt/proof that it had been cleaned by professional cleaning services. The general office girls were okay to deal with, but the management was a pain in the rear. They seemed unwilling to please, and that is why I do not provide them with any more of my business.
