Resident 2009 - 2010

1/19/2010

So I have been living here for about 7 months and I think it is great. I have read some of the other comments on here, most of which are from some years ago, and I can't say that agree with most any of them. The one that says, "this place is overrun by teenagers" seems to me to be completely false. I think I've seen a teenager here once, maybe? This place is QUIET, and I mean that. I rarely see anyone, let alone hoards of teenagers. The buildings are set very far apart- there is a lot of privacy. In addition to this, I would hope that any apartment community would do business in accordance with the Federal Fair Housing Laws which prohibit discrimination of potential tenants based on age (anyone over 18), sex, religion, color, national origin, race, handicap, familial status and, in Washington, sexual orientation. These laws are in place for everyone's benefit and yet no one seems to know about them, even the people who benefit from them the most. In regards to the noise complaints, I can give an unbiased review. I live on the second floor so I have people above and below me. Honestly I can hear the people above me- I can't hear them walk or talk but I can hear their dogs running occasionally, and I can hear water from the toilet flusing, or the washing machine, as it passes through the pipes that run down the walls. This kind of noise doesn't bother me however, if you are sensitive to sounds, if you never want to hear your neighbors, you should always get an apartment on the top floor. The only kind of construction that will prevent you from hearing people living above you is concrete/cement and good luck finding that kind of construction anywhere but in a highrise. As to cleanliness here, I feel that the community is kept up nicely. The landscapers come every week and I have never seen any garbage left out. There is a valet trash service that started about 5 months ago that is very nice but there is also a large compactor and recycling center available to everyone all the time. Perhaps a few years ago there was a problem with garbage, I don't know, I wasn't here. As for utilities, I have asked the leasing consultant how exactly they are metered and this is what she said: water, sewer and electricity are metered individually, per usage. Gas is metered per building because when the community was built there was no charge for gas so it made sense to put one meter on each building. Now that the price of gas has increased so much there is a charge for gas and the most fair method of charging residents seemed to be to divide it by the square footage of each apartment in a building. There is a billing methodology letter that was given to me at move-in that explains all of this. I have yet to pay more than $20 in gas for any given month, including these winter months. This is a long review! That's about all- I like it here, the finishes of the apartments are lovely, the amenities are great, I don't have any trouble finding parking, it's great.
