Resident 2012 - 2013

5/3/2013

Formerly known as the Downtowner Apartments, now known as Addison on Fourth. First of all, $990 gets you a tiny one bedroom apartment with the kitchen attached to the living room (yes, there is no kitchen.) less than 500 sq feet. The view is the only nice part about this apartment and that s only because it s got western-facing windows. No oven in these apartments, it s one of those terrible microwave/oven combo units. 2 stovetop elements, so if you like cooking, this is not the place for you. NO STORAGE OR CUPBOARD ROOM! Good luck storing anything. Old school steam heaters that the management decides to turn on at their leisure once a day for about an hour, which means the winters are very cold . Had to invest in my own heater to stay warm. Appliances, sinks, tubs, etc are all cheaply made and installed, so expect things to break frequently. Fridge is the SMALLEST EVER. Close to 5 tall, so if you have a ton of stuff in the fridge, toss it because it won t fit. People frequently smoke in their apartments and the smoke smell permeates through the halls and through your apartment walls, so it almost always smells like an ash tray. You can hear EVERYTHING in neighboring apartments, so yes, in the middle of the night while you are sleeping, you can hear your neighbors talking and turning on microwaves. Walls have an ugly green accent color inside the apartment. Elevators are frequently broken and out of service. Currently one elevator works and the other is closed down, which you have to share with the construction crew. They frequently hold the elevator for minutes at a time, so if you re in a hurry to get to work, it can take 10-15 minutes to actually get out of the building from the top floor. Construction workers are frequently rude to tenants and care nothing about the fact that they pay to be there, so they make unnecessary loud noise and horrendous hours. Leasing office makes you sign something in your lease acknowledging and OKing that there is asbestos in the building, as well as lead paint. $300 PER pet and $990 for deposits, so it s pretty outrageous. Vinyl flooring, so when they say they have hardwood in their ads, they definitely mean vinyl. EVERYTHING is under construction and dust flies everywhere all the time. Giant cardboard pieces are taped all the way down the hallways on a lot of the floors so construction can drag stuff up and down the hallways at all hours. Construction and loud noises frequently start between the hours of 6am and 7am Monday-Saturday, so if you enjoy sleep, this is not the place for you, even though Seattle city law states 7am is the earliest construction can start. You re not allowed to have Amazon Fresh delivered, because the crates are, according to the manager, too ugly to put in the hallways. They constantly shut your water or plumbing off, almost weekly, for routine maintenance, forcing you to use a community bathroom (gross). Parking is a nightmare, unless you like paying $200/month for an unsecured, unguaranteed Upark spot next door. Washer and dryers are frequently broken, so the whole building of 100 units shares 2 washers and 3-4 dryers, which is currently located in an APARTMENT unit on the 4th floor. Management is a nightmare. Manager never answers emails, phone calls, or concerns you have to send a letter via USPS certified mail to get her attention. Maintenance requests? Make those in writing otherwise they are ignored. Management enters your apartment up to 3-4 times per week for the same issue, because they apparently can t fix it the first time when they claim they have. Management entered my apartment and broke personal belongings and denied doing so for several weeks. Ended up taking 2 months for them to admit and reimburse me for said items, then they made me sign a piece of paper attached to my lease saying I have to pay the money back if I leave before the lease ends, which is pretty dumb if you ask me. Had a door mat outside my door and the manager played a game involving childishly flipping it over every day because she didn t think it was pretty enough for her hallway. That went on for about 2 months before she admitted doing so. No note on the door informing us of this issue she had with our door mat. When you do actually schedule maintenance to come to your apartment, expect them to be a few hours late. They claim they knock on your door when they don t, then document it on your work order that you weren t home when they came by, so don t be surprised if you don t receive maintenance when you schedule it. They have been known to hold mail for up to a couple weeks without informing you of packages. Manager poked through my mail and actually inquired about bookshelves I had ordered, specifically accusing me of mounting things on my walls (which is actually allowed in the lease.) Sounders, Mariners, and Seahawks games can be heard inside of your apartment with a TV on, so if you enjoy quiet, this is not the place for you. I ve seen rats running around this apartment complex. Dead roaches have been seen in my apartment. Strangers walking through the halls frequently (secured building? Yeah right) Lease breaking fee? Forfeit your $990 deposit and $990 fee, so to escape this hell costs you a whopping $1880. Tiffany is the only awesome person working in that apartment building, so if you have questions and concerns, she s really friendly and helpful. You can find so many better apartments with better price and better management. But if you do decide to live here, have Pinnacle corporate contact numbers on speed dial, because they are actually very helpful, friendly, and will take care of things when you contact them. Renter beware, DO NOT LIVE HERE!!
