Resident 2017

My version of horrible. Before we moved in we of course scoured and found that most reviews were older or not specific, so of course being optimists believed like most apartments we have lived it probably isn't so bad if no one is listing specific complaints that resonate with us. Of course after we moved in some more specific reviews were posted and we were left kicking ourselves for choosing this place. So let me break down for you my version of horrible: 1. Parking spaces are so narrow that while driving a narrow compact I cannot open my door if both spaces around me are filled. 2. No backup parking for guests within a 1-2 mi radius and only one parking spot assigned. 3. Limited maintenance staff (1 person) means buildings cannot be maintained in good standing. Examples: - Bathroom door does not close - Graffiti on patio - Blinds missing leaving gaps allowing sun to come in - Tubs not properly sealing causing the sealant to peel up if you dare try and take a bath - Actual holes in cabinets - Faucets leaking, at this point we have 2 and there are cracks that leave concern of mold because there is no way to really clean inside the wall - We were startled to learn we would need to provide our own microwave, I fully admit I may have been spoiled, but was startled never the less - Submitting a work order seems to involve repeating yourself 4 times then coming to terms with the work never being done - Office being unexpectedly closed, I have come home from work early multiple times to ensure I could pick up my packages only to learn the office was closed. No explanation. Certain mail carriers have actually given up and just leave them at the door. - Yes, the planes overhead are very loud. - Yes, the walls are thin enough you hear your neighbors and I constantly feel bad for the people who live near me because the floor creaks just from me walking around. The property overall is not well maintained because of the limited staff. To the point that a very nice maintenance person still comes off as irritable because there is just too much to do. Now it's not fair to claim the "Community" here is bad. Honestly these are the nicest neighbors I have ever had and I feel safe and welcome around them. For thin walls the building I am in at least seems to be quiet (aside from the planes) at night. The problems with the community rest 100% with the property management company. To fix it they could consider: 1. Hiring additional maintenance staff 2. Creating a paper form to place outside the office for non emergency maintenance requests and a drop box so you can ensure your request is on the list 3. Post updates on why the office is closed and provide alternatives to allow people to get their packages. (Have an assistant to the property manager maybe that has enough access to distribute packages) 4. Have move in packets for new residents that include useful information, including a folder to put the lease in, business cards for the appropriate staff (even just the right numbers), check lists of things to check when moving in that should be on the check in guide, even brochures from local restaurants to help the restaurant gain more business and make the move in process feel smoother. *If they wanted to take it even further move in baskets seem to be a new thing, generally they include necessities like toilet paper and paper towels, sparing the resident that first emergency store trip and giving a more welcoming feel.
