Resident 2010 - 2011

11/10/2011

Sad to be moving!

I've lived in the Avanti since August of 2010, and it's been by far the most comfortable apartment I've lived in. It's the perfect size 1 bedroom for First Hill (downtown/capitol hill). I love the location, it's perfect to walk down to Pike Place Market or up to Capitol Hill, and even more ideal for walking to work at the hospital nearby. I'm a huge fan of the dishwasher/washer and dryer in the unit as well. While my balcony is very small, just having the big door to open in the summers was nice. You can't do much on it though, maybe a foot or two deep. Almost everything was new when I moved in (fridge/stove/washer and dryer/carpet/tile). That was much appreciated. The kitchen is very small, that was probably my biggest gripe about the unit, it doesn't have much cabinet space at all. I did like the space in the bathroom/bedroom/living room though, the bathroom had a huge counter top which was handy. I hate little pedestal sinks in some of the apartments around here. Maintenance was very efficient. The websites form never worked, but a simple email to Tessa or Connie almost always resulted in next day or day after service. I'm a huge fan of not having to haggle/keep on apt management to fix little things, it was quite nice. I have a 60 pound yellow lab and they were very pet friendly for her. Connie even took her for a walk once when maintenance was doing some work in my apartment, they always came and talked to my dog when work was done since my dog could get fussy with the maintenance guys. They were super friendly towards her in the office too, they always have treats. They are all dog owners too. I've honestly never had a nicer apartment management to work with. They are just easy going kind people, far nicer than any I've worked with in other states. You get what you get living right next to Boren. It's loud. The ambulances come and go at all hours of the night, so on the hottest summer days you may not want to leave the windows open in your bedroom. I got used to it, and I may find my new place almost too quiet, but if you're easily bothered by traffic noise I'd live on the garden facing side, not the Boren facing. I almost never heard neighbors though, people were very flexible with listening to music during reasonable hours, never late. I highly recommend the Avanti. I'm going to miss living here.
