Hill Crest Apartments is a "middle-aged" building in quite good condition. It is located on a fairly busy street in the West Seattle area, but the neighborhood is otherwise much quieter than where I lived before. Only the front of the building has any "yard" for plantings, but that area is nicely taken care of. The building is well-maintained. Requests for work to be done are handled promptly. Apartments are refurbished as needed between tenants. The building is located on a major bus route (#21), which is very convenient. The pet policy is relatively liberal, allowing for dogs up to 35 pounds and two pets per apartment. While there is a pet deposit, there is NO pet rent!! One of the best things about the building is the resident management. Both the manager and his assistant live on site. The managers go out of their way to make people feel "at home". There is a real effort to foster a sense of community within the building. The managers supply a small welcome gift with each new apartment. They accept packages for the tenants and keep them in the office until the recipients can pick them up. They accept rent and utility checks so tenants don't have to pay extra "convenience charges". They are friendly, knowledgable, and helpful.
