Resident 2012 - 2013

1/3/2013

I have had a wonderful time living here. Its quiet on my floor, spotlessly clean, and if you pay for parking it is safe, secure, and very easy in and out. I sleep well at night, and the security here is really high. The surrounding areas of town are a bit old, and icky, but the building is right where the new development begins. The police station is literally blocks from us, so not too far away if there ever was a problem. The staff is kind, I walked in and asked for a tour, and was given one, and literally had my lease done within hours. There is always someone (even at 2 AM) in the building available to assist and the light rail picks up right out front. The coffee shop down stairs is great, I wish the grocery store was a bit more exciting, but there is one across the street. The roof top is wonderful in the summer, but in the winter they need to solve the ice issue, no hot tubbing, you are liable to slip and break your neck. Overall --- its a good place to live.

Lets all step back from the ledge and speak frankly about the Station. Its an alright place. I had a studio and it was plenty of room for me, even too much. I live simply, so, I don't need much space. It cost me around $950 a month, but that included secured garage parking. The staff is excellent, they were quick to reply to emails, stayed on top of issues and were always thinking of ways to interact with the community (Pizza parties, wine tastings, game nights ect) Which were cool. The common room is really nice, full cable TV, and awesome AIR con (something your apartment will not have.) The rooftop was always clean, light music and a great atmosphere. Some of the downsides of the station to me were as follows; Location isn't the best. There isn't much around in terms of stores and restaurants. There are lots of Thai and Chinese places to eat, but when you want something quick, like a quiznos or subway, you're in for at least a 20 minute drive. The neighborhood still has a bad rep, yet, I never had any problems,… See More>

Took more than 2 weeks just to schedule a tour. If you're considering this place, forget it. You are wasting your time looking here. Management may as well be sitting in their offices collecting dust.

Sure it's new built, and all the electronics are nice and energy efficient. The interiors are quite lovely and it's well laid out as far as garbage and light. But that's where it ends. Unless you love things like: A: Paying out of your hiney to live in what's essentially run like a college dorm, B: Listening to every single thing your neighbors from all angles are doing, C: Having to listen to what's been coined as 'Domestic dispute of the month" and then having to call the police because of it, D: Being awoken by drunk people at all hours of the night INSIDE the courtyard having fun, E: The management doing NOTHING about your polite complaints, even when promised resolution, DON'T LIVE HERE. This place was touted to me by the girl who showed me the apartment as a "Hip, new urban living for working people that needed the light rail. It's extremely quiet and professional, and we take our renters comfort seriously" - Brilliant, that's what I needed. Well she doesn't even work for the place anymore, so I'm assuming they caught her on the lies. When I moved in a year ago, there was about 20% capacity and everything was perfect. It was quiet and lovely… See More>

Perfect for me, but not satisfied

I can see the rail station out my window, this is the main reason i live here. I work at the airport and the light rail makes it super convenient to get to work. When I moved in the building gave me a $300 orca card which was awesome. I've loved my unit, first to live in it. Fantastic appliances nice finishes ample sq footage for a studio. Awesome amenities. The building often holds events where they either cater food and drinks or grill out on the rooftop. I however do have some issues with management and the way that I have been treated. For the cost of my rent I am disappointed in the availability of the amenities. Wayyyyyyy too many rules! What is the point of having all these fabulous amenities when there are so many restrictions. For example rooftop closes at 10pm... this includes the grills, hot tub and all! I think its ridiculousness! Also, as a tenant I am not allowed to have more than 3 friends over and have them on the rooftop patio. This is unreasonable. Went to have a little get together with literally 5 friends for st Patrick's day and they told… See More>

              A Great Choice

When I started looking for an apartment that would make my commute into Seattle easy, I wasn't sure what I would find. I stumbled across The Station in the fall of 2010, when they were still taking reservations for the building's opening in the spring of 2011. The thing I immediately appreciated was the choice of floorplans - I had several to choose from and ultimately I decided on a 1 bedroom den. Lots of room for my office and still plenty of living space for "non-office" stuff! The staff was(is) great (even prior to opening the building) by keeping in touch, and really helping me find the unit that would fit my needs (they showed me several units so I could figure out what I wanted.) When the building was opened, and I moved in, I really appreciated the quality of the building and the amenities. As the amenities became available (roof deck, media room, etc.) the office staff kept us informed and welcomed all of our feedback about what could be done next, etc. When I come home I'm always greeted warmly and my concerns are always taken seriously. They use the ActiveBuilding… See More>

we live here, we wouldn't wish it on our least favorite people

I don't have a problem with the neighborhood. For the most part any noisy events outside happen during the day and on weekends when it is not a problem. My issue is with the owner. There appears to be a policy of treating certain tenants (ie those of a perceived higher social class) differently than those who are on government rent assistance or who are lower-income (we relocated here for a job, and while the staff have always been glad to see us and helpful, they have been reportedly very unkind to some of our neighbors). In addition to this, the building is run like a college dorm, with messages about quiet hours and lock-up policies stuffed under our doors. My family, which includes a toddler and an arthritic pet, are being relocated to a guest apartment for a week without our consent so that the building contractors can replace our fully functional fridge with a smaller one and re-install kitchen counters and cabinets that are 3/4 of an inch narrower than those we currently have. We have been given no choice in the matter, although some effort has been made to accommodate our schedule and safety concerns for… See More>

                  Not a good choice

Went to look at the place and then did a drive by late at night last weekend. Don't rent here. There are loud, loud, loud music events across the street. Lots of litter (mostly liquor containers), broken car windows, and lots of bad behavior. What a mess.
