DON'T MOVE HERE!!!!!!!! WHATEVER YOU DO PLEASE READ THIS FIRST!!!! Oh My Gosh. Where to start. I found this place because it was close to my work and the office staff seemed SO friendly and quick to help me move in, and the building looks appealing... but that is exactly what it was. They wanted me to move in and fill up that space- everything after that was a nightmare. Almost immediately after I moved in the problems began. Anywhere from getting parking tickets for parking across the street in the no parking zone between 2-5 am! There is not enough parking for those who actually have vehicles and then to pay for a parking spot in the unsafe garage is $50. The security cameras don't even work(which they informed me of!). I also want to mention to those of you with families or who care about personal safety- there is an INCREDIBLE amount of drug use/gang related activity. During my time of living there I heard a total of 7 gunshots and immediately the police would show up. It would be a rare occasion to not see a police car there. Then I had issues with mold and water leaking into my apartment. I used to find all sorts of bugs and worms in my entryway seeping in through the cracks that weren't sealed properly (I had one of the ground level apartments on the linden side of the street, there are only 4 units like it). I went to the office and complained multiple times because the water would soak into the carpet and make it smell and it completely ruined my entryway and my personal belongings which they never did anything about. Due to the water leakage came the mold. I went to the office originally to explain this to them and there solution? Come into my place, argue to me it wasn't mold and use their 'fix all' paint to cover it up. Well, mold is mold and it kept coming back. Finally after getting the other neighbors into the complaint, towards the end of my lease they decided to fix it. Their idea of fixing it? They came on a Monday morning, completely took off my entire entryway (thank God I was on vaca at the time and at the apt) and they left my entire apartment with all its contents exposed to any crack head that walks by the place unoccupied for 8 HOURS!!!!!!! If i hadn't been home, who knows what would have happened. I have rented for years and never in all of my renting history has ANY landlord come into my apartment more than they. I have at least 20 letters requesting them to come into my place for no good reason. And at the end of their rants they say, "if you unreasonably do not let your landlord in, you will be charged $100.00". They have no respect for their tenants belongings, schedules, or privacy. Twice in the middle of the night I heard water dripping in my closet all over my clothes completely soaking them and ruining them from the fire spigot in the ceiling- I put in a work order and no one ever came. My freezer quit working and ruined all of my food. When I called in a work order, the guy came out and took a look at it. He came by the next day into my apartment without my knowledge or without leaving a notice saying he had come in. How UNPROFESSIONAL!!! You CANNOT trust them. I am telling you- these people are sneaky and greedy and so unlawful it is absurd. While living there i came home one day to find 40 or so protesters outside the office fighting to get back a deposit Tressa had stolen from a disabled person! How HEARTLESS! They took Tressa to court and WON!!! This place is notorious for stealing deposits and giving bogus reasons. I knew the same was going to happen to me and it did. I have tried to call Candace (the office manager) to ask her specifically why and there is no straight answer. She'll give you a round-a-bout answer that never touches on the question you actually asked, while trying to confuse you and make you feel inferior. Anyhow, these are just a few examples of the horror complex I lived in for a year. The place you choose to go is going to be your home. It needs to be safe and you need apartment staff that will support you and not treat you like a criminal with a bank account. I sincerely hope you take my experience-as well as the other tenants- into consideration before making your final decision. God luck and Good Speed!
