The people who own and manage this building are truly horrible. They will act very professional and caring to your face, but in the end they will have broken so many landlord/tenant laws involving illegal entry and security deposit fraud that you will realize it wasn't worth it. The lofts are beautiful, and that's where they get you. When viewing a unit during the day when everyone is at work, it's peaceful and quiet. From 5:00 on, prepare to hear everything happening around you in your neighbor's apartments. During the 2.5 years I lived there, one of the two clothes dryers either didn't work or worked so poorly that it would force me to pay for 2 rounds and wait 2 hours to dry clothes. I had a major appliance break and was replaced with a unit from another apartment that was empty. When I moved out my deposit was reduced by $400 for my 1/2 responsibility of replacement cost because she claimed I broke the appliance due to my "user error." The owners are well aware that not enough tenants will fight them in court so their behaviors will continue. While this business model is working for them, I hope some day they realize their evilness and stop. If you choose to live here, take MANY photographs and be meticulous when doing the move-in checklist. Write down every single flaw you see. There will be many since this building is over 100 years old, but you will get charged for everything wrong with the unit that was not written down upon move-in.
