Wonderful place to live

I have an equal amount of complaints as well as compliments for this apartment. I will start off with some of the bad. #1 Bathroom: Very old vintage claw-foot bathtub. I find it very inconvenient to have to buy TWO shower curtains to keep the water from spraying all over the floor. The only way the water can be used is through the attached shower head. The only way to keep the tub looking clean is to actually paint over it because if you scrub the surface, the previous paint job will peel. #2 Mold: When its not summer, I have to constantly clean all the dark black mold growing around the windows. I'd say on a bi-weekly basis. #3 Cockroaches: There were ants at first but that was taken care of. I don't enjoy opening the lights up in the middle of the night to find roaches of different sizes scurrying across my kitchen ground. I bought my own set of glue traps, roach sprays and electronic pest control sound wave things that I could just plug into any outlet. I believe it took a good 3 months to completely wipe out all the roaches from my apartment. #4 Noise: Very thin walls. I can hear our next door neighbors showering, using the bathroom, hacking out something, grunting, slamming their doors, yelling, laughing. I can hear all the music and television programs that they play. Worst of all, I can hear every and all kinds of domestic violence coming from my apartment complex and also the complex across the street. Before when I first moved in there were no problem with the train sounds in the middle of the night but for the past month, its been louder and more frequent. #5 No elevator: This is a very old apartment complex and living at the highest floor with no elevator is very inconvenient. I enjoy a little activity but having to drag my groceries and my child up many flights of stairs just to get home is pretty exhausting at times. #6 Laundry facility: Very out-dated and tiny models...maybe 30 years-old? I have to put my clothes on two or more cycles to have them fully dried. Here are some of the good qualities of this old run-down apartment. #1 View: Im on the highest floor and the views are great! If you get an apartment facing the west, you will get a spectacular view of the sound. You'll mostly get views of the industrial settings but when the sun sets, its beautiful! If you face another direction, you'll just see the other parts of this complex and the other complex across the street. #2 Very Spacious: I rent a 2-bedroom and I don't feel like I'm in a cramped space at all. The bedrooms are big. The kitchen is just right. The living room is fairly big. It doesn't even seem like I'm living in an apartment, more like a small house almost. The windows are big and lots of lighting comes through the windows. I only have to pay $15-$45/month just for electricity because I hardly use that much thanks to the natural lighting during the day. #3 The Perfect Neighborhood: Extremely close to public transportation especially the #36/#60 Metro bus routes and Beacon Hill Link Rail Station. Delite Bakery and HillTop Red Apple Market are just a block away. 12th Avenue View Park, Beacon Hill Elementary School Park and Jefferson Park are in close proximity! Beacon Hill Elementary School is just a couple blocks away. an Asian ABC Supermarket is also close, very cheap fruit and produce prices. Hair salons and spa treatments are just footsteps away, like EXPO Hair Design and Salon Nuvous. I don't think you can find a neighborhood so convenient and beautiful like this. Bank of America is a block away. Beacon Hill Library is a couple blocks away. There are three churches nearby, a Baptist church and two Catholic churches. Everything is just right outside the door. You hardly need to fill up your gas tank. You save hundreds of dollars on gas. I WOULDN'T WANT TO LIVE ANYWHERE ELSE. #4 Safety: It is a safe place. Sure there is the occasional domestic violence here and there but the feeling of walking out alone at night without fear of anyone or anything is a great feeling. I've lived in way worser crime-ridden areas with guns and police but this is the most safest place I ever known. There is no obvious drug-dealing or drug dealers. There are no guns or bloody violent fights outside. There are absolutely no bums or homeless people loitering around. #5 Nice people and decent management: I believe the old assistant manager got fired for having 3 hour lunch breaks and whatnot but the new one that is currently running the place is wonderful to deal with. Any questions or answers we needed were answered and taken care of in a timely manner. I am amazed at how fast the maintenance guy was called up to our place to fix things. The manager even renewed our release with the same rate, no questions ask or scammy hidden fees. Our neighbors are nice and some of them were nice enough to open the door for me when I leave the complex or help with my groceries. #6 Utility bills are very cheap. Monthly bills are less than what you pay if you own a house. I don't worry about bills. Other than the physical complaints of the Apartment. I wouldn't want to move anywhere else. I don't think I can find a place with a neighborhood so convenient. I only wish my rent was lower or at least the amount its suppose to be worth...less than $500 maybe and not up to $1000.
