Resident 2007 - 2010

6/21/2012

Cedar Creek Village worked out really well for me, my friend lived in Deer Run which was extremely dangerous and told me management horror stories, plus between the weird people and the dogs, I feared for my life stepping out. CCV was nice, not only compared to that but compared to the run-down student (both single and family) housing built in the 60s (?) I had to live in before. What I liked: It was quiet, I've lived in loud places and all I could hear were birds and the wind. The patrol car--CCV still had crime but far less than other complexes in the area. I didn't have to pay extra for a garage, which I didn't have in my last place. I liked the view into the field and it wasn't loud either (I lived in fishbowl apartments before). Everyone says management wasn't perfectly warm, but I never had a problem in the three years I was there--I kid you not. Maybe it's just me being ignorant of people being rude, or maybe I had good ones assigned over my building, or maybe they liked my personality. If you are a friendly person who gives people the benefit of the doubt and tries to make friends with the management like I did, you shouldn't have a problem. I liked having a pool, no surprise fees, a peephole, a deadbolt, a locked mailbox nearby, a decent-sized stove, good birdwatching, comparatively polite children compared to other places, A BIG GYM (most places have a treadmill and weights and that's it) with lots of TVs with individual remotes and headphones so you had your own private show to watch and don't have to listen to other people's shows you don't care about--I guess it's these little things that made me feel lucky compared to the old places I used to live. Also rent never went up in the three years I was there. What I didn't like: The only person who was mean was when we moved out. I had a really good point-by-point cleaning plan, people stopped helping me clean on move out day because they thought it looked spotless, saying it was the cleanest they ever saw. I thought I had overdone it too since everyone I knew got their whole deposit back, but I didn't want it to be messy like when I moved in. The lady was unfriendly and totally white gloved it--she was complaining about the crumb under the super clean stove hood, and the little bit of soap under the soap holder. Hello, I made your appliances look new, doesn't that count for something? My only real complaint besides that, was the fact that the balcony attracted so many wasps--forget about using your balcony, and there were animals running loose from the nearby neighborhoods. Okay, and I wish I didn't have to go into a dungeon to use my storage unit, SCARY. It wasn't a perfectly safe place, but I survived. Mediocre air conditioning, not central and in only the bedroom, but at least I had something (I lived without before). The paint was peeling everywhere outside, people do smoke, and unsavory people do occasionally harass you or knock on your door--but that's this part of town, and you do get what you pay for.
