4 Reasons why I'm moving AWAY

First the good things: ~ University Place is one of the nicer/safer areas around Tacoma ~ The property is walking distance to shopping, restaraunts and coffee shops ~ Chambers Bay golf course and off-leash dog park are a 2 minute drive away ~ The commute to Hwy 16, I-5, JBLM, and Downtown Tacoma is super easy Now the Not-So-Good things: ~ Water issues: The hot water pressure was really low in my apartment, which I was told could not be fixed. I also developed asthma after moving in because mold developed due to water leaking between the walls, and through my ceiling (Yay leaky pipes and rain!) I asked maintenance to check out both, and they said there was nothing they could do about the water in the walls, and that they "fixed" the roof. Unfortunately, the roof leaked 3 more times while I lived here, in my bedroom, directly onto my bed. ~ Parking: The parking lots do not allow for many guests, and the spots themselves are too narrow for most vehicles to safely park without hitting another car. I have a Jeep Patriot, it's not large. Also, many people here think an open spot is their spot, regardless of if it's reserved with a #. ~ Noise: Halfway through my lease, a guy moved in next door who made his presence more than known whenever he was around. I was woken up on a number of occasions at 3am to his bass rattling dishes in my kitchen. He was always kind enough to turn it down when I asked, I just don't appreciate having to ask more than twice. ~ Management: I lived here for 9 months and the staff changed 3 times during that span. The latest person doesn't seem to know what she's doing, and though she's new to the property, she should have her facts straight. I wanted to transfer to a new apartment in the complex to save the cost of moving to a completely new place, the first conversation I had with her I was told everything would transfer over, and I'd only have to pay the new rent. The second time I talked to her, the rent for the new apartment went up because they had to change the carpets, and I would have to pay a deposit on top of first month's rent. The third time I talked to her, she said she would need $1600 from me on the first of the month because it was a whole new contract, even though they wouldn't let me apply the credit I already had on my current contract to my last month's rent in my previous apartment. They wanted to transfer that to the new lease, but still make me pay everything else like I was a brand new tenant. So... needless to say, I'm moving out, to a nicer, smaller, and quieter complex, with a well established manager. I'll still be close to a park, work, and family, so I'm happy.
