KNOW YOUR RIGHTS AS A TENANT. I was a good tenant for 4 years. In the last week of renting, they wanted to rip up half the carpet, which would have taken 3 days. I said that wouldn't work, as we were moving out. The whole situation escalated and I was served an eviction notice for 12 hours before my lease was up. I informed Missy, the landlord, that it was within my legal rights to decline the renovation, and that the eviction notice needed to be 5 weekdays in advance, not including the day it was served (meaning, the eviction notice wasn't valid). I also posted a complaint with the dept of consumer affairs, which seems to have done the trick. Moral of the story: if you rent here, make sure you read up on the eviction process so you don't get fooled. Also, the rent increases every year, FYI.
