Having lived here for more than two decades, I think it's safe to say I pretty much like these apartments. ;-) They have their faults but, so far the pros outweigh the cons. (Nothing is, "perfect?") Major PROS include central air conditioning and self-controlled heat; and, a washer & dryer within ones's apartment. The particularly beautiful west-Madison, semi-rural location of these apartments is a PRO in & of itself. Built near the top of a sloping hillside, many apartments possess panoramic views. One CON is that the windows installed are not up to Wisconsin winters: they leak badly. I found early on that I could cut my heating bill by 20-to-30% and achieve much more inside-comfort by putting plastic up over my windows once heating season arrives... (Additionally, I replace my own furnace filter monthly.) PRO: Twenty-five minutes on foot straight down Watts Road is cornfield & country. Take a left for more rural; take a right, and, roughly 10 minutes later you're at Prairie Town mall, home to a Target, a Copps' grocery store and, a Lands End Inlet, among other stores. High Point Park is right up the street from Lincoln Ridge and, Elver Park a mere half-hour or less away on foot -- winter sledding, ice skating, & a cross-country skiing/snowshoeing trail -- and they are only two of the numerous parks in this area, a jogger's / biker's / walker's delight. West Towne Mall sits other side of Highway 12 & 14, with shops & restaurants in and clustered, all around it. Yet, if I walk down Watts to HIgh Point and hang a left, 30 minutes takes me to cornfields and, a little further over off Raymond Road, a state trail. On-site apartment management has changed three times in as many years and unfortunately, none of the new have been as helpful / efficient / responsive / & personable as the previous. Call that a CON. Maintenance-wise, I've been satisfied over the years with responses to the majority of my maintenance issues. Call that a PRO. Almost forgot: Madison Metro bus routes 73 and, on weekends / holidays, 63, serves this area. A stop at the end of S. Burberry Dr. goes to the West Transfer Point; a stop at the end of N. Burberry Dr. heads further west. ###
