Resident 2018

12/14/2018

It is pretty clear that with the recent management change and the steady increase in rent that there is a movement to make this place seem much fancier than it actually is. We didn't ask for a fenced-off "dog area" (which is more like a confinement area) or the ridiculously annoying new washer/dryer system which basically requires you to have a smartphone. The workout area in the old shed is pretty pathetic. Within a year or two I don't even know if we (single, mid-20's) will be able to afford living here anymore, being that they keep sneaking extra fees in. There are a LOT of families living here and I cannot imagine that they can afford these silly price jumps either. I can't help but wonder if this is an attempt to kick out what they perceive to be the "trash" in the complex, who are likely receiving Section 8 Housing (affordable living). For how many staff they always have in the office, they seem to have a real problem following up with reported concerns involving maintenance and pests....whether this is a miscommunication between management and maintenance, I am not sure. However, it is becoming a pattern where we have had and have heard anecdotally about several issues with which we were told it was not an emergency, and therefore they would not make us a priority. It seems as if they enjoy presenting the appearance of responsiveness and culpability until they log off for the day, and then it is no longer their problem. Parking is probably the worst I have ever seen. There is absolutely no room for any residents, let alone visitors. This summer they chose to continue laying down asphalt in one of the main lots during the month-long flooding issues Madison was having, meaning not only did it take an extra 15 minutes to drive around the road blockages to get to the building but the free parking spots were reduced by 50% AND they would not let us park in our paid spots inside the garage. The contingency parking plan was extremely confusing/poorly communicated and caused many residents to receive tickets and/or get towed. Last winter we were warned that we would get towed if they marked our tires and noticed we didn't move for a few days in order to allow for plowing. I leave for work every single day and was towed on a Sunday, while this van that had been sitting there for weeks was covered by a pile of snow and did not get towed as well. Because the office is not open on Sundays, it was extremely difficult trying to figure out where the h*ck they took my car to, and management/maintenance would again not pick up their phones because it was not an "emergency". It turns out their contracted towing company is in FITCHBURG, which made for an incredibly frustrating and expensive day. All in all, I can pretty much only recommend the place for the prime location and that is about it. Do not move here if you do not want to pay an increase in $50-$100 a month every year.
