Resident 2007 - 2010

7/4/2010

My partner and I have had nothing but good experiences with the landladies and maintenance at Westhaven. The complex has nice landscaping and the courtyard (with pool, volleyball court, and grilling area) is really nice. Things inside Westhaven are great. I very much enjoy my nice view from my balcony. However, the neighborhood surrounding Westhaven has consistently gotten worse. I've lived at Westhaven for nearly 3 years. I can handle the neighborhood kids and people trespassing on the property, but I cannot handle when kids come up to the hot tub and ask to get into the pool area and then take out a BB gun on their way out. There was a murder right down the street a few years ago, and now, I read that there were gun shots fired last night in the 3000 block of Muir Field. Don't leave your car unlocked or unattended because people in the neighborhood check cars and steal stuff. This is why I rated the parking a 3. The safety issue is problem at Westhaven Village. I have two other issues, but they are tolerable. The first is that no units have in-unit washer and dryer. That wouldn't be so bad, but there aren't even any change machines on site. The second is that the units are severly outdated. But that is purely an aesthetic problem. I'm still keeping my rating at a 3, however, because if Westhaven was gated off or simply "picked up and moved" to a nicer neighborhood, this place would be fantastic.
