Resident 2006 - 2008

4/1/2009

Parking: Look to pay ~50-60/month for parking in an open lot. The parking enforcement does patrol this area so I would advise to get a night parking pass and switch your car from one side of the street to the other every night. That will save you a lot of money. Look to have your license plate registration stolen regularly (This isn't too bad though, since you can get it replaced at the DMV for seven dollars each time). Safety: Buying a gun is a strong recommendation. Especially when drunks make it through the pathetic attempt at security and come pounding on your door when they think they've made it home. I've always wondered why the fire exit is padlocked from the outside under my unit, since if there was a fire almost anywhere I would be forced to go through it to get to the front/other side door. I bought a fire escape ladder to prevent this. Staff: The poor people taken advantage of who take care of the place are nice. That infamous secretary though...she needs an attitute check at best. Noise: Mostly quiet because people with sense don't rent here. When there is a renter, however, the thin walls make loud music, arguments, and rough sexual encounters a daily occurance. I've personally had to deal with music that had bass turned up so much (from 8pm to 3am, Thurs., Fri, Sat., Sun.) that I've had to stay at a friends to get any sleep. I've also frequently hear the sounds of women wailing in other apartments (not the apartments fault, but its the environment and thin walls that make these situations difficult). I've actually heard someone say to his wife/girlfriend "I'm not raising my hand at you to hit you...I was just raising my hand at you to threaten you." Grounds: There is no grass/yard. Garbage and broken glass on the street made me have to buy a new tire once. High crime area. There have been things I've requested to be fixed that have been just ignored after repeated calls...for two years. Mice/ants are a daily problem. Price: Can't be beat if you compare them to other apartments. If you compare them to the projects, like you should, then you're getting a poor deal.
