Resident 2021

Portly renovated. Many problems, definitely not worth the monthly rent. Cheap flooring, cheap trashy appliances. The 2nd bedroom doesn’t even have AC and the windows can’t properly fit an AC unit. We also was shown a different apartment then what we actually got. The elevators are disgusting, also make sure you use the right dumpster if you don’t them money hungry people will charge you for everything.

I have lived here at Chestnut Hill Apartments for nearly 20 years now and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice and quite place to live. For as long as I have lived here, I have never had an unpleasant encounter with the management and staff. The maintenance people are competent and responsive and on occasions when something needs fixing they take care of it in a timely manner. The grounds surrounding the buildings are wooded, spacious, and well maintained. There are even a couple of picnic areas and a playground on the grounds of our complex. Also there are plenty of parking spots for the residents and visitors. A reviewer had suggested that the staff are quick to tow your vehicle and that they get a kickback from the towing company, which could not be further from the truth. In fact, the management went so far as to change from one towing company to another just to disprove such false theories. My car has never been towed and anyone who has a valid parking sticker on their car, can park anywhere they want and they will never get towed. This apartment complex is located within walking distance… See More>

This apparent complex could be the worst one in the area. The worse part about Chestnut Hill is the office ladies that work there. They treat you like garbage and act like you are not a human. I lived here for roughly 2 years while at WVU and ,like others have said, it is like living in an senior citizen center. The whole place smells like mold and old ladies perfume. The maintenance there is non existent; if you call them for anything be prepared to wait roughly 2-3 weeks to have that issue fixed. There was a leak in my toilet that was going all over the floor and rotting the wood/floor underneath and I called roughly 50 times before maintenance came to "look at it". On top of all of that the old lady in the front office tried to charge me more rent for my water bill because that was leaking and she accused me of leaving my water running for days. Like others have said, they tow away cars no matter if you have a parking pass or not. Came home from class twice during my stay here… See More>

Apt is close to campus, but that is the only positive. Staff is terrible to deal with once you have signed your lease. Maintenance to the facility is non existent. Facility is run down, outdated and smells of mold. Outside sidewalks and porches are crumbling and the trees are overgrown. Not enough lighting for safety. The rules and regulations are crazy and the office staff is more than happy to tow your car away on a whim. DO NOT RENT HERE !!! NOT WORTH THE HASSLE!!!

My husband and I have lived at Chestnut Hills for 2 years now and we have had few problems. When we first moved in there was mold in the heating closet but maintenance took care of it relatively fast. Unfortunately, the insulation is still visible (they did nothing to cover it). The door is closed though so it doesn't bother me much. Second, the doors in our unit are quite worn. I sent pictures to the office asking them to be replaced and they offered to replace one but warned it would take several months because a new door has to be made. It is true that the apartment is dated-the tile in the kitchen and bathroom seriously need redone. The kitchen cabinets we lined with shelf paper as they were rough to the touch inside. If looking at an apartment here expect a few stains here and there as the apartments have been around since the 70's. Maintenance has always fixed any problems we have had (which have been few, although I am still waiting on a new door.) The residents are very friendly, my building is full of very nice people and some kids. The ac and heating… See More>

This place is miserable!!! DO NOT LIVE HERE! I have a service animal with proper documentation and still got letters on my door saying I had to get rid of my service dog! WHEN THEY HAD ALL THE PAPERWORK!

The apartment is quiet. But it's really old. You would be better to see the room that you want to rent and it's better to read the lease before you pay the deposit for it. The sample rooms maybe much better than the room you rent. The fat lady in their office is just patient before you pay the deposit. Be careful everything before you sign the finally lease.

Signing a lease at this place was the worst mistake of my life, no exaggeration. I wanted a 1br apartment closer to campus so I thought I'd sign this lease for my last year at WVU. The woman in the office is a fake who tries to be your best friend and will tell you any BS to get on your good side. The maintenance is made up of sketchy looking people who seem angry all the time. On day 2 of moving in, I saw in the bathroom a bedbug, but didn't realize that's what it was til all my stuff was moved in a week later. Everything became infested with bedbugs that had become hungry since the previous tennant moved out. They crawled around EVERYWHERE during the DAYTIME (majority of the time they're found near beds in furniture and only come out at night), that's how bad the infestation was. Of course, a sketchy pest control company was called (they don't have a website, just a business card). The exterminator made up some BS about bedbugs (confirmed it with entomology dept at wvu) and tried to blame the infestation on me, even though they were there before my… See More>

DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE. When you first go to rent your apartment, everybody seems nice and friendly. However, that quickly changes once you violate all of the extra rules that they post around the apartment after you sign your lease. For example, My lease says that I can park where ever I want, however if I park in a lot that is not on the same side of the building as my apartment, I receive written warning that I will be towed. You can hear both your neighbors,as well as those above and below you with stunning clarity at all hours. They are very possessive about their trash chute. If you put even a smashed up box in it, they will come into your apartment while you aren't there and leave it on your kitchen table, along with a very harassing note about how they will sue you if you put boxes down the trash chute again. The next day, there will be signs all over about boxes in the trash chute. Also, the maintenance men are the lowest of caliber. One day I came home to fine one sitting at my kitchen table eating lunch. Not the… See More>

Called management several times over other non tenants using the laundry facilities. Plus you are charged about $3 a load. I have to do laundry for 4 people and average about $60 a month. Maintence is slow and useless. Best if you know what you are doing to get it done in a timely manner. Yes they pay water, gas, sewage and trash and you pay electric and cable, but.a $700 rent for this place verses a mortage is not worth it if you have to call management and nothing still is done about the situations.
