Resident 2015 - 2018

It's got the basis to be a good place to live, but it all depends on your neighbors for the year. My first year, we lived above a couple who yelled and threw things in one of the bedrooms. The second year was above a group of guys who liked to throw parties. We put in a couple noise complaints for those two years, but we all personally knew the property manager and knew he couldn't do anything except ask them to be quieter. Management changed last year, but by then we were surrounded by empty apartments and never had a chance to see how they currently handle neighbor issues. You can't hear your neighbors doing normal stuff like talking; it's only a problem when they're being pretty loud. No matter what, you WILL hear the train a few times a day. If you've heard it from somewhere else in Morgantown, you don't understand. The tracks are right across the river from Mountaineer Court, and it is LOUD. I got used to it and mostly tuned it out, but one of my roommates was still being woken up every night when we left. The apartments themselves are HUGE for the… See More>

Staff does not care about the rules leading to the other apartments to have barking dogs and blowing airhorns at 2am. Maintenance workers usually don't know what they are doing or finish what they're doing. An example of this is our balcony door lock was broken and they took the parts off of it to fix it and we never saw him again. We had hot water shut off for a week with the repair man coming back 3 times being extremely rude when we were explaining the problem. Air was iffy most of the time. Also my roommate broke through the balcony and to fix this they put a thin wooden board over it.

          mountaineer court

Lived there for a year now, everything is new and clean when you move in. Close I mean five minutes to most buildings W.V.U. downtown campus. There is a maintainance and security person on site which is great for Fri. and Sat. evenings, nothing gets too out of hand. The rail trail is the backyard, and you are five minutes from any P.R.T. station or bus so you don't even really need a car. The staff and managment company are really helpful and informative.

            Nice place to live

Actually located at 1993 Water Street, next to Knapp Hall. The back of the building overlooks the Rail Trail and river. Perfect location for WVU students. Only tenant parking is available at a monthly fee but there's no need to have a car. Apts are nicely remodeled under new management as of Spring 2010. One bathroom but extra sink/mirror for each tenant adjacent to bedroom. Security/Maintenance man on location.

              Mountaineer Court

I've lived here for the past 9 months and it's been great. Newly carpeted/painted, all new appliances, individual sinks/closets. Incredibly close to the downtown campus of WVU. If there are ever any problems, the management is very willing to fix them within a reasonable timespan.

New managment company in place, apartments are newly remodled, with new everything. The company has also provided an on site maintenance person and security person who patrols the building especially on Thur., Fri., and Sat. evenings. Wonderful place and close to campus, walking to downtown campus and P.R.T.

                  Remodeled in 2010

Don't know what it was like before but the new management and maintenance have not done one negative thing. The apartments have big rooms and almost every thing in it is new other than the washing machine which they came to fix when requested. It's location is definitely worth it.

I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemies. It's dirty and disgusting and the place is not maintained well at all. The people are rude and unhelful. Never rent from them!!!

Do NOT rent from McCoy 6

Things I would have wanted to know before renting from McCoy 6: 1. Rent has steadily increased every year. In 2006, my monthly rate was $490 and parking was free. The past two years monthly rent is $510 and they charge for parking (note: The parking fee is not a specified rate. I paid $600 for 12 months of parking but found out that my neighbor only paid $300.) 2. There are ants everywhere in the apartment. 3. The people in the office are short-tempered, inconsiderate, and money-hungry. 4. The dishwasher and garbage disposal share the same small drain and therefore, the dishwasher is constantly clogged. 5. The stairwells, walkways, and other structures of the building are unsafe. The building is deteriorating and the "repairs" being done and quick and cheap. 6. THE COMPLEX WAS CONDEMNED IN JULY 2008 -I went to work at 9 a.m. one morning and got back to my apartment at 3 p.m. to find a flyer with a notice of codemnation. I had until 5 p.m. that day to move my belongings out of the complex. -No phone calls, e-mails, or other sources of communication were used to properly notify the tennants about the complex being condemned. -I had… See More>

                        MOUNTAINEER COURTS

This place is awful. The woman in the office is a spawn of the -----. She needs to stop eating so much and worry more about her building collapsing one day. There are huge rats that just crawl around everywhere and the place looks like any gust of wind could knock it over. The ceilings leak inside the apartments, and the air conditioning doesnt work half the time. The maintenence people, if you can call them that, are worth less then a dollar bill sent through a paper shredder. The only thing positive I can say about the place is it is a 2 minute walk to classes and more importantly the bars.

                          BEWARE

Horrible place to live. Very rude people to rent from. Could careless about the comfort of their tenants. Very strict guidelines. This is a money pit. There are many additional costs to the apartments besides rent. I am very unsatisfied not only with the apartment conditions and the lack of maintenence, but with the landlord and their neglect to satisfy the needs of the tenants.

close to campus, one of the better places in downtown

Mountaineer Court Apartments has walk-in closets, decent sized bedrooms and it is right beside downtown campus.
